ROZHOVORY
After several years of silence she came back on the scene - in full finery - woman who immodestly called herself Queen of Hard Rock. This immodesty is certainly not unjustified and with new album "Time Capsule", she thrusts us back to the golden era of hard rock - to the 80s. Former member of the legendary Runaways - guitarist and singer Lita Ford. We talked about the new album, about her memoirs, but she also talked about some dirty lingerie ... and all exclusively for you.

You are releasing your new album called “Time Capsule” which is bringing us back to ´80s. Whole album is taken from tapes you found in your house. Can you tell us about feeling you get when you listened to those old raw pieces after all those years?

I believe a lot of people miss the music that came from the 80’s. It s just very hard to get close to the sounds and the 80’s vibe we had back then. It was special, and even people who never lived through the 80s because they were too young hear about it from friends and family, some of them would love to hear this record too. With some amazing songs, people and performances on this sound track. It takes you back in time.

Things have changed from these days. What do you miss most from ´80s?

The magic of the era!   Yes, things have changed , which is why the release of Time Capsule. It’s a time in rock history no one can duplicate.  I had these 24 track analog tapes on all to my self. I wanted to share them with the fans who can appreciate them.

We know that musically, new album is getting us back in time, but what are stories that stand behind those songs? Can you uncover us some of them?

The Runaways grew up with Cheap Trick. We were huge fans of thiers so we always supported each other.  I was in the studio recording The Killin’ Kind when Rick and Robin were hanging at my house writing songs.  We were just having fun singing in the studio when their voices sound so special on this track.   Dave Navarro was recording in the studio next  door, so we grabbed him and asked if he would play something on a song.  It just so happened he played mandolin on The Killin’ Kind.  Dave is a great talent.  Another great talent, Billy Sheehan , a friend of mine who I had asked him if he wouldn’t mind playing bass on some tracks.  We all had fun in the studio with an amazing engineer,  George Tutko.  George got the best out of us as artists. He had my back when singing a lead vocal or playing a guitar part.  Jeff Scott Soto is a power house of a singer, who better to duet with on WHERE WILL I FIND MY HEART TONIGHT,  amazing performance.    Gene Simmons and Bruce Kulick had started ROTTEN TO THE CORE  already,  I just finished it during a writing session.

On new album, you were working with many musicians – Gene Simmons, Billy Sheehan, Jeff Scott Soto, etc. How you enjoyed cooperation with those guys?

They are huge talents in the rock world. Especially in the 80’s. They were in their prime.

In mid-August, you are having show in old Europe – Belgium. Can we expect some more shows, maybe even tour here in Europe?

We hope to tour Europe. It has been difficult for us to get over there. But I have hope that after seeing how great my band is, with Bobby Rock on drums, Marty O’Brien on bass, Patrick Kennison on guitar and vocals, we are rolling thunder and can not be denied. With some new songs and old songs in the pocket, the fans will come away with a life time of rock n roll memeories.

Along with the songs, you are opening another time capsule – you are offering your memoirs called “Living like a Runaway”. How can you describe this book in few words?

A rock biography from a female guitarist. In a testosterone driven world of heavy metal, 1 female who played guitar and carved the path for others. My Memoir is a rock n roll journal of highs and lows , a roller coaster ride of laughter and tears.

You are cooperating with Pledgemusic to offer your fans pretty interesting bundles – meet and greets, handwritten lyrics, guitars, … what feedback on those bundles you get?

Yes, we are offering the fans cool bundles of rock Lita memorabilia.  Definetley check out www.Pledgemusic.com/Litaford !  We have had a lot of satisfied fans, especially with the meet n greets.

In interview for Rolling Stone magazine, you mentioned you are working on new album together with Slash, are there already some details you can tell us?

No. We had talked about writing a song together. But since the reunion of G n R has come about, so he is as busy as I. We will see.

Your life is not only about music and work around music … how do you like to spend your free time?

Sleeping... Ha Ha!

On your web site, there is fan mail address. What was the weirdest package you ever get?

Dirty lingerie. Sweaty stinky used lingerie. We ended up giving it to the police.

What do you enjoy the most on the fact that you are rock star and part of music industry?

That I am the Queen of Hard Rock and have been around for decades, which gives me a legendary status .  It’s good to be the queen.;-)
