I have to admit that the title of the new album seems like a kind of dinosaur. It´s a bit funny but the title is not the most important thing. What is the most important, that´s music. Somehow or other, U.D.O. released another great album. That´s why I decided to do this interview with maestro Udo Dirkschneider. 

The release of Rev – Raptor is very expected. The first release date should be in March. What caused the delay of the release?

Actually, the first plan was for January, but then our guitarist Stefan Kaufmann had some health problems and he needed to interrupt  the recordings for two months. That was the reason. 

You and Stefan use to compose music and lyrics. Is there a possibility to participate in this process also for another members and who, except both of you, involves the most?

Basically, Stefan and I, we are the driving force in our band, but the rest of the members are involved as well. Igor, the guitarist, composed two songs for the new album. We´ve been working together such a long time, so we are all involved in the process of composing the songs. 

What´s your main inspiration concerning lyrics?

Let's say it this way. We work a bit differently, at first on title and then the lyrics come. We´re looking for the ideas during our tour or from many other things. We use to compose music after all that. There´s enough inspiration.

Dominator, your previous album, was present by dark video Black and White. This time, the video Metalhead is based more or less on the image of the band. 

Hey, Black and White is not a dark video. It´s a very funny one with women. We didn´t plan anything like that. We actually don´t know what we will do with the new album. We wanted to do this new video from our new album more than like a live video.

Heavy metal is quite favourite nowadays but many tv channels ignore this fact. Is your video broadcast only through internet or do you know about the broadcasting in some channels? 

Yeah, of course. No question.

After the release of the album, you´re going to perform on some festivals. Do you know where?

At first, the tour starts in South America and then we´ll play in Europe, on summer festivals. Then there´s Eastern Europe. It´s gonna be a long tour. Unfortunately, I don´t know every dates so far. We´re just managing all the details. 

Reveal to us how can you keep yourself in shape during a long tour?

Less fun and I try to live healthier :)

Since I know. You have a son. Wouldn´t he like to be a musician as his father?

He´s a drummer and right now he´s working with his own band. Who knows? I can´t condemn yet, where this story goes.

I know that your band is involved in many organizations that help animals.

I don´t think it´s good when some guys do experiments on animals. That´s why we are all interested in animal rights organizations and we support organization called PETA. 

But anyway you don´t scorn a steak or something like that.

This has nothing to do with that. Yeah, I´m not a vegetarian :)

You have many fans here in Slovakia however you haven´t been here for a long time. Would you like to tell something to your Slovakian fans?

I hope we will be able to come back to Slovakia. But it depends on your promoters. We would be very happy. Thank you do much for your support.
