ROZHOVORY

Just few days ago, new album of German rising star called Kissin Dynamite released new album called Generation Goodbye. This is the reason why we answered one of these happy fellas and the one for this time was guitar player Jim Mueller. What we heard from him is the matter of the upcoming lines.

Hey man! As always we didn’t want to do the same album twice, so we talked about where to go after megalomania and got quite fast to a conclusion. We wanted to sound more guitar based, less synth stuff, but still in a modern „young“ way as we are 25 years old. Also many things happened personally in our lives, so we were able to write a more serious and darker album, though it’s still fun to listen and with the typical kissin’ dynamite humor. What’s really special about this album is that we totally produced it on our own. We wrote the songs, we recorded it and Hannes, our singer, finally did the Mix. So it’s a very personal album, honest to the core. I recorded my guitars by the way in my small student flat during exam times - and yes, the other students loved me for that… not :)

You are releasing new album called Generation Goodbye and introducing it with single „Hashtag Your Life“ hating social media boom of these years. What is your opinion on whole social media thing?

There’s so much shit going on in the world at the moment, but people who feel save just care about nonsense things, like Facebook likes and tinder matches - they don’t see the „small“ things, happening around them. The message we wanna spread is: reduce digital life (at least a little) and live your live in real world. It’s all about meeting awesome people, have some drinks and talk about awesome things, hear great stories etc. For me this is worth living.

When we see whole music video, it is hard not to laugh … I assume you got a lot of fun during the recordings. Is there anything special you still remember from that recording?

It was actually the first music video we did with a real crowd. And on top of that, they were no actors but real fans of us we just invited to the shoot. So it was a really familiar atmosphere. They were so excited to be part of the video. And in the end, we couldn’t stop laughing while shooting the scenes. You know, there is some material that wasn’t used in the end and maybe it’s better this way, but we had tons of fun shooting it :)

Another single that already came out is song „If Clocks Were Running Backwards“ which is beautiful and powerful ballad. Can you tell us story that stands behind this song?

Andi, our drummer and lyricist once told me about the story. It’s a quite personal song for him. At first, Hannes came up with the slogan and Andi took it and wrote the words. Last year, he separated from his longtime girlfriend and so he used the song to express this experience and his feelings. I guess, for details you'd have to ask him. But I can say, that the real one's still alive, talking about the ending of the video ;)

How can you introduce us the rest of the album? How can you describe album Generation Goodbye?

Musically, I would say, it’s a natural mixture of Money, Sex & Power and Megalomania. With Megalomania, we dared an important step and left our comfort zone in order to find more and more our own style. You could say, that Generation Goodbye is another refinement of this process. It still has got the modern sound elements, but they fit into the context in a better way. So, I think we found a real good balance here. And by the way, again, there a some real good hooks on it.

Big question for your fans around the world is tour promoting new album. There are already some plans revealed but it only hit few countries. Are you planning another parts for the tour?

We're always willing to play in as much countries as possible. For instance, this tour is gonna lead us to Ukraine for the very first time, which is an exciting thing. And of course, we'll also play in France, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Austria, and Italy again. You never know, but if opportunities are offered, of course we'd be excited to extend this.

As far as I know, you hadn´t played here in Slovakia before. Are there any plans for your premiere in our country?

Not yet, but i hope to get there very soon!

In past few years, many big bands from hair metal and glam metal era are finishing their active careers. You are legacies, ones to hold the banner in the future. How you see future of the genre?

At first, in the meantime, I wouldn't describe us as glam or hair metal band anymore. But indeed, we're a modern hard rock band that's inspired very much by the old heroes who started the whole thing back then, just doing it in our own way of course. And you're right that currently a lot of the old bands quit. It's a time of big chances at the moment. So, the title Generation Goodbye also fits quite well from this perspective. On the one hand, of course it's sad to slowly say goodbye to more and more of the old bands, but on the other hand it's exciting to see what happens after that. We believe that this kind of music will never die out. We just love what we do and we wouldn't want to do anything else. And in the end, this will and love for what you do the most important requirement for success.

What are you listening these days in your free time?

Of course, still a lot to the old bands I just meant before. But also completely different stuff, if I like it. There can be any dance song on the radio with a great melody, so I also listen to that. Or even some funk or soul or whatever. It's always good to have an open mind for everything that's made well. Like that you get a better feeling for music in general although you still know where your home is.

More than any other genre, glam metal used motto “Sex, Drugs and Rock n Roll”. What is your opinion on this motto?

I think, in a way, those three things really belong together. One thing is if you use it as a motto, a concept for your band. The other thing is that if you just really live it and like this express your freedom with it. In terms of drugs, this doesn't mean, that you're the cooler, the more you take, because we all know what happens then. So you still got the responsibility for yourself. But in terms of sex and Rock n Roll, in my opinion you can't have enough :-)

There are pros and cons in every profession but many people see only glitter of being rock star. How do you like to live the life of rock star?

It has always been our dream which has come true. So, we'd be fools if we wouldn't appreciate every moment of it. And it's just awesome to stand in front of a massive crowd and see them singing your own songs. That's what it's all about and why we always wanted to do it. But of course, we don't stand on stage for 24 hours. And if we're off stage, yes, we party a lot, but truly not the whole time. There is also: Driving for ours, waiting for the gig, waiting for the gig and ...also waiting for the gig. And of course organizing a lot with our booker, record label and finance manager and so on. This can be quite un – Rock n Roll, but it's part of the job and if you keep in mind what it's all about, which is the stage and the fans, it's not so bad anymore.

We reach the end …

Thank you very much then!
To all you Slovakian fans out there: I hope you like our new record Generation Goodbye. For those who haven't heard it: Just go and get it, you' can't be wrong.
